Beautifying Cabbagetown Laneways

Canada’s 150th anniversary was a very giving year. An example of this was when I was approached by the Cabbagetown Residents Association to help beautify the laneways. As a resident of the town at the time, I knew very well what that entailed. Cabbagetown is a unique neighbourhood in Toronto where clashing communities live together. The laneways were always known to be shady parts of town. So one way to change this was to offer residents an opportunity to enhance their back entrances. The project was to recreate house numbers in mosaic art. As we were graciously funded by the celebratory year, the project was accessible to many and thus a success.
